The called and known Sierra de la Ventana is located about 625 km southwest of Buenos Aires city and belongs to Ventania massif, one of the oldest in America, formed in the Precambrian, more than 500 million years ago.
We propose a simple, short and intense program. Two days, to discover the highest of the province of Buenos Aires on foot, in a captivating setting of mountains and forests with surprising fauna.
Important:
Day 0 (previous day): Proposal to travel in private cars and spend the night in Tornquist or in the Funke ranch.
Day 1: Meeting at the town of Tornquist. Transfer to Estancia Funke. Equipment review and start walking! From the Glorieta we begin the ascent by the southwest towards the source of the Napostá River. We set up camp and from there we make a short walk to a pool and waterfall. Camp in the mountains.
Day 2: We get up very early. We`ll try the summit of Cerro Tres Picos (1239 m.a.s.l.); a walk of about 6 hours round trip to the highest peak in Buenos Aires province, with great views. On the way back, we`ll have a light lunch and later we will begin the descent to the ranch, where we will take the vehicles to return. End of our services.
Light program with a moderate degree of demand. A backpack must be individually carried with personal equipment (the bare minimum) and part of the group equipment (tents and food). The distribution of loads will be decided by the guide at the time. Program not subject to weather conditions. Modifications can be made during the trip depending on various circumstances and factors. Decisions will be made exclusively by the guides and coordinators.
Ideal adventure to take the first steps in the mountain
Two days to learn and experience the mountains
It is only one night in a tent in the mountains. You must bring a sleeping bag and insulating mat.
Yes. Although you should know that you have to carry your own backpack with your equipment and the general gear distributed among all the participants.
The first day is the most demanding because we ascend for 5-6 hours to the campsite with all our equipment and a loaded backpack. The second day we go lightly to the summit and then we descend with the full backpack (with less food) to the base.
The meeting is at the Tornquist bus station. If it is from Buenos Aires, the best thing is to take the bus service that leaves at 10:20 PM from Retiro. On the way back, he leaves from Tornquist at 10 pm and arrives at Retiro at 8 am on Monday.
In tents that our company provides. You have to bring a sleeping bag and insulation (ask us for rent).
Note that there is a section where you can check what you should bring. Trekking-expedition backpack of between 60 and 80 liters, trekking shoes, sleeping bag and third layer parka jacket are the main ones.
During the activity we eat fast-digesting and energetic food such as fruit, bars, nougats, nuts, etc. At noon cold food to continue hiking such as sandwiches, cakes, empanadas, salads, etc. At night a strong and hot dish such as pasta with sauce or lentil stew.
